bats

I don't know if you knew but Austin has the highest population of bats in an urban area. They live under the South Congress Bridge and at about 7:30 pm anywhere from 750,000 - 1.5 MILLION bats fly out every night! There is a park for people to have a picnic and watch the bats, you can take a kayak or a boat out on the lake or be like hundreds of others who simply gather on the bridge to watch. They fly as far as the eye can see! One of the more amazing things I have ever seen! People around here say its "over-rated", if you ask me I definitely would say it is way "under-rated". They say the bats consume 10,000 - 30,000 POUNDS of insects EVERY NIGHT!!!

After watching the bats we had dinner at Sandra Bullock's restaurant Bess Bistro and finished the night with Austin's favorite Amy's ice cream!
